Winter is Coming! We Have Your Open Shoulder Drive Tires

Posted by Tim Phillips on Oct 18, 2021 10:01:30 AM

Brrr! The 2022 Old Farmer’s Almanac comes with a winter warning: Prepare for a “Season of Shivers.” This winter will be punctuated by below-average temperatures across most of the United States.

To make matters worse for truck drivers, in some places, the super cold of the coming winter will also bring lots of snow. This extreme wintry mix is expected in areas of New England as well as throughout the Ohio Valley, in northern portions of the Deep South, and in southeast New Mexico.

If you'll be hauling in wintry conditions soon and are concerned about rising dieselDouble Coin RLB452 winter square image fuel prices, check into our open shoulder drive tire, the RLB452, for fuel efficiency and biting edges across the tread.

The RLB452 is a great complement to the popular RLB1 open shoulder drive tire.

The traction performance on this tire is outstanding on wet and snow covered roads. Long wear is achieved by a deep 28/32nds of tread depth. It also includes Double Coin’s 7-year warranty and 3 retread warranty.

We want our loyal customers to know, however, that we are not discontinuing the older, yet very popular, RLB1 open shoulder drive tire. Here's a story about one of our owner operator customers who depends on his RLB1 tires to haul grain out of muddy Midwest farms.

According to the venerable Old Farmer's Almanac, above-average snowfall is also in the forecast along a track from eastern Montana southward through the western halves of the Dakotas and into northeastern Colorado. While temperatures in this mid-country strip will be relatively normal, snowfall will be abundant, with several storms predicted throughout the winter.

Meanwhile, most western areas will remain relatively dry, with all but the Pacific Coast itself and portions of the Southwest experiencing the frigid cold predicted for much of the rest of the country.

Sliding off the road can cause lost hours and extra expenses, if not an outright nightmare. Make sure your tires are ready for the winter!
